Hi! My name is Lauren and I am a last-semester Senior at the University of Michigan. I am a Communications Major and an aspiring sports broadcaster/journalist. I have grown up with two brothers, and raised like a boy: loving all things sports. I love the idea that sport is a language, just like English, Spanish, or French. Sport is it’s own entity. It’s a way to talk to and understand other people. I love that 20 people can watch the same game, but each person can get something different from it. I would love to be a broadcaster in the sports industry to take any given game, put my own spin on it, and report it in a way that maybe other people haven’t thought of. Sport is dynamic. Sport is teamwork. Sport is physical. Sport is challenging. Sport is exhilarating. Sport is dedication. Sport is uniting.
Since I mentioned my family up there, figured I should talk a little bit more about them. They are a huge part of my life. I come from a family of five: my mom, my dad, my two younger brothers, Cory (19) and Alec (16), and me. They are more than just my family, they are my best friends. Here is a picture of us taking a selfie in front of Christmas lights in the middle of Rochester, MI. We were judged pretty hard core, but YOLO.
Totally irrelevant, but here are a few fun facts: I love pickles. If I had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be pickles. I enjoy running and have ran two marathons – currently training for my third in Copenhagen, Denmark. I like playing the guitar, writing music, and singing. I like trying to make the little things the big things. And my favorite fun fact of all time: Taco cat spelled backwards is taco cat. Mind. Blown.
